EXACT ANALYSIS OF WAVE PROPAGATION IN AN INFINITE RECTANGULAR BEAM   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The Fourier series method was extended for the exact analysis of wave propagation in an infinite rectangular beam. Initially, by solving the three-dimensional elastodynamic equations a general analytic solution was derived for wave motion within the beam. And then for the beam with stress-free boundaries, the propagation characteristics of elastic waves were presented. This accurate wave propagation model lays a solid foundation of simultaneous control of coupled waves in the beam.  相似文献

Approximate methods for analyzing the vibrations of an Euler--Bernoulli beam resting on a nonlinear elastic foundation are discussed. The cases of primary resonance ( n ) and subharmonic resonance of order one-half ( 2 n ), where is the excitation frequency and n is the natural frequency of the nth mode of the beam, are investigated. Approximate solutions based on discretization via the Galerkin method are contrasted with direct application of the method of multiple scales to the governing partial-differential equation and boundary conditions. The amplitude and phase modulation equations show that single-mode discretization leads to erroneous qualitative as well as quantitative predictions. Regions of softening (hardening) behavior of the system, the spatial dependence of the response drift, and frequency-response curves are numerically evaluated and compared using both approaches.  相似文献

An analysis is presented for the primary resonance of a clamped-hinged beam, which occurs when the frequency of excitation is near one of the natural frequencies,n . Three mode interaction (2 31 and 3 1 + 22) is considered and its influence on the response is studied. The case of two mode interaction (2 31) is also considered to compare it with the case of three mode interaction. The straight beam experiencing mid-plane stretching is governed by a nonlinear partial differential equation. By using Galerkin's method the governing equation is reduced to a system of nonautonomous ordinary differential equations. The method of multiple scales is applied to solve the system. Steady-state responses and their stability are examined. Results of numerical investigations show that there exists no significant difference between both modal interactions' influences on the responses.  相似文献

Summary The bending of a finite-length beam that lies on a rigid, rough, flat foundation and interacts with it in accordance to the dry friction law is considered. Loading by bending moments applied at the ends of the beam is studied in detail. The problem is found to be a self-similar one. For small moments, the central part of the beam remains undeflected, and the problem reduces to the solution of an infinite system of algebraic equations. Large moments deflect the entire length of the beam, and the problem partly loses its self-similarity. In this case, the problem reduces to the solution of a successively decreasing number of ordinary differential equations along with some algebraical equations. The solution for the latter case provides initial conditions for the former one. This permits to obtain a solution for any value of the moment. An extension of the Elastica theory is developed to study the large deflection of an elastic-perfectly plastic horizontal cantilever beam subjected to a vertical concentrated force at its tip. The entire process is divided into four stages: I.elastic in the whole cantilever; II.loading and developing of the plastic region; III.unloading in the plastic region; and IV.reverse loading. Solutions for stages I and II are presented in a closed form. A combination of closed-form solution and numerical integration is presented for stage III. Finally, stage IV is qualitatively studied. Computed results are given and compared with those from small-deflection theory and from the Elastica theory.  相似文献

A theoretical study is carried out on the dynamics of a magnetoelastic beam being in a step-pulsed magnetic field. For this aim, the magnetic potential and elastic energies are determined for the beam and partial differential equations are established according to Hamilton's principle. It is proven that the magnetoelastic beam can give a variety of complex behavior in the case of step-pulsed field excitations. An intermediate regime of two-well chaos is observed. Theoretical findings were found to be in a good agreement with the experimental results for the specific system parameters.
